This will occur if the ambient temperature is not within the allowed operating range (10 – 40 °C.) In order to resolve this, we would recommend you allow the thermometer to remain for 30 minutes in a room where the temperature is between 10 and 40 °C.

A flashing display indicates a system error. We suggest waiting 1 minute until the thermometer turns off by itself and then turns on again. If the problem persists, reset the thermometer by removing the batteries momentarily.

Similar to non-contact thermometers, a forehead thermometer is a quick and fuss-free way of measuring a child’s temperature that measures the infrared heat waves emitted thru the surface of the skin. The main difference is that you need to gently touch the center of the forehead to take a reading. It is a great choice for young squirmy children that are feeling under the weather.

To avoid inaccurate measurements ALWAYS use this thermometer with a new, clean lens filter attached. If the thermometer is accidentally used without a lens filter attached, clean the lens. The lens filter indicator will blink to signal one is needed. Attach a new lens filter by pushing the thermometer probe straight into the lens filter inside the box and then pulling out. Note: The Braun ThermoScan® will not work unless a lens filter is attached.

Store thermometer and lens filters in a dry location free from dust and contamination and away from direct sunlight. Always store the thermometer with the protective cap or with the cradle in place to prevent dirt and scratches from damaging the device.
