This might happen after having inserted or changed the batteries or not having used the product for a longer time-period.

Please make sure:

1. That the battery is inserted with the correct polarization (+, -).

2. That the contacts on the thermometer are making a tight contact with the battery.

3. That the thermometer battery-contacts are clean. You might want to clean them with a cotton swab, moistened with alcohol.
