Spellbound Group was acquired by Gabina Health & Beauty in March 2010 and the management and staff set about to create a business of fun filled products and themes within the licenses owned and managed.

The current licenses managed by Spellbound Group include the local Disney license, the very exciting Hello Kitty as well as the Marvel Comics and Marvel Extreme licenses.

The world of licensing is a highly complex and competitive one in which licensed properties are broken down into the very many categories of products within which merchandise can be created and offered to consumers.  Spellbound Groups licenses are in the personal care category, seeking to offer appealing products in the bath and body category to consumers in the geographical areas covered under the license which is the territory of South Africa and in certain license extends to include Sub Saharan as well as geographies into the rest of Africa as well as Mauritius.

Gabina Health & Beauty, the owner of Spellbound Group has developed a reputation for  sourcing, importing, sales and distribution of health & beauty products in South Africa.  This experience and the fact that Gabina has its own sales people and channel managers together with a very mature distribution model made the acquisition of Spellbound very appealing. 

The extension of the knowledge base to include the design, development and manufacture of everyday products using the most exciting properties was an opportunity not to be missed.

The mission of Spellbound Group is to provide merchandise that is appealing, of high quality at the appropriate price points within these special character franchises.  This will be achieved through careful local design, development and manufacture and complimented through import, always mindful of the responsibility we have in this very sensitive and impressionable target market to whom our products are targeted.

We are currently busy with the new product development that includes new Hello Kitty, Spiderman, Disney Villains and Disney Wizards of Waverley Place (Selena Gomez) deodorants, new bath ranges for Hello Kitty as well as a Wizards bath range.  Cars 2 is around the corner so watch this space closely.

Hello Kitty is the hottest property around and 2011 will see much greater distribution of products in this franchise which will for the first time start to include cosmetics.

We will shortly expand our web site to include images of the various ranges and products which we distribute across the various franchises and will allow you to express your interest directly. Within the character business we believe in defined product life cycles and we will in future have a section that will specifically detail end of range products.
